Fall field work including tillage, soil testing, post-harvest weed control & fertilizer applications of anhydrous ammonia have been reduced from previous years due to wet fields and ongoing harvest. MB Crop Report #25

MB Crop Report #25 Overall harvest progress is approx 74% complete, below the 3-year average of 88% for the 3rd week of October. Prolonged power outages are affecting grain drying and bin aeration activities and potato storage heating/ventilation. Large amounts of wet, heavy snow fell over southern MB last weekend. In field crops are buried under snow, stems having broken under the weight or severely lodged. Silage corn harvest progressed last week, until the snowstorm, as did canola, flax & soybean.

MB CROP REPORT #20 Harvest progress has been limited by widespread rainfall, resulting in slow progress. Wheat quality loss reported & swaths remain in fields in SW & NW regions. Drying of tough & wet grain becoming common. Light frost in 4/5 regions over the weekend. Overall harvest progress is approx 40% complete, below the 3-year average of 56%.
